American experimental rock band formed in Los Angeles by Maynard James Keenan, best known as the lead vocalist of the groups Tool (2) and [a242802]. Keenan is the only permanent member and the mastermind of the band, he considers the project to be his "creative subconscious." Since 2011's Conditions Of My Parole Keenan, singer/songwriter [a889428], and multi-instrumentalist Mat Mitchell have been the "Core Trio" of the group, assisted by a revolving cast of additional studio and live musicians.
