Edwin Beunk is a distinguished Dutch restorer and collector of early fortepianos and other stringed keyboard instruments, like harpsichords and spinets, based in Enschede. Beunk launched his workshop in 1981, initially repairing and tuning modern pianos. Johan Wennink came on board in 1985, and other partners joined subsequently: Carolien Dopheide and Katja Luthje. The "Edwin Beunk & Johan Wennink" atelier exclusively specializes in historical instruments. In more recent years, Beunk launched an educational documentary project in collaboration with filmmaker Patrick Drijver and pianofortist Riko Fukuda; short videos with insights into the history and construction of early pianos are shared via Edwin's YouTube channel. His collection primarily covers fortepianos made between 1770 and circa 1870, with all instruments in excellent playing condition regularly borrowed for recitals and recordings. It features pianos and a few harpsichords by Joseph Kirkman, Burkhard Shudi, Johannes Zumpe, Frederick Beck, Graf, Streicher, Érard, Pleyel, Blüthner, Broadwood & Sons, Rosenberger, and other renowned makers and brands.
