Taiconderoga

From the UK, they were known as Train and apparently never played live under the Taiconderoga name (always appeared as Train). Train was late 60s five-piece, a hard-gigging outfit who supported the likes of King Crimson and Deep Purple. At the behest of their producer, they adopted the name Taiconderoga (a mispelling of Ticonderoga, a town in upstate New York) purely for the release of their only single (November 1969). The line-up was the following : Dave Searle, bass; Dave Blackman, vocals; Ray Defaults, lead guitar; Brian Robertson, rhythm guitar; Malcom Mortimore, drums & percussion. Drummer Malcolm Mortimore later turned up in Gentle Giant; while 18-year-old rhythm guitarist Brian Robertson subsequently changed his name to Brian James and few years after formed the leading punk band The Damned.
