Kiyomi was born and grew up in Tokyo. She started to sing at early age and joined a classic choir at primary school. She continued to develop her singing skills in a band at high school. Her love of music began with Classical and later evolved to Soul, Jazz, Blues and 60's and 70's music. In 1992 Kiyomi moved to London where she studied Music at the University Of Westminster. During her first year she got a record deal with a Japanese independent label and released her first record 'Phantom Power' under the alias of 'Mighty Atom'. The track was heavily influenced by the UK 1990's club scene - notably she drew her inspiration from Break Beats, Trip Hop and the underground Bristol sound. The EP reached No.1 in Shibuya and Ikebukuro HMV shops (Japan). After her success in Japan Kiyomi began a collaboration with Andrew Sharpley (Stock Hausen & Walkman), and later went on to tour France. She has also drawn influences from going to club nights such as Giles Peterson 'That's How It Is' at Bar Rhumba, Drum & Bass parties: Metalheaz-Sunday Session at Blue Note(Hoxton Square), DJ Fabio - Swerve, Movement at Bar Rhumba, Progression Sessions at Ministry of Sound. Through frequenting the London club scene she began to collaborate with the producers and DJs she met. KIYOMI's vocals were featured on various producers such as Paradox, Alaska, Naibu. KIYOMI is Currently working on her first album which will be out early next year 2012.
