Владимир Протопопов

(June 30, 1908, Moscow - February 18, 2004, Moscow) Musicologist-theoretician, teacher. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1966). Doctor of Art History. From 1938 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory at the Department of Music Theory. An outstanding scientist, whose activities included questions of the theory and history of music, source study, bibliography, editing and composing comments on the publication of musical and literary works of Russian composers, music scientists, critics. Author of 217 scientific works.
