Norwegian hard rock band HARDLINE was formed in Trondheim in the fall of 1983, when Svein Grostad (guitars), Odd Ellingsen (drums) and Egil Trøa (bass) of trio Lipservice (3) hooked up with Storm (36) and Road (4) vocalist Børge Pedersen under the moniker Hardline. The new band recorded a demo that landed them a record deal with Swedish label Intersound. Their self-titled album was issued in 1984. In the 1990's they would change their name to first Lipz and then Valhalla (2) who released one album in 1995. Eventually the renamed second version of the band would call it quits a couple of years later. In 2007 it was decided to revive Hardline on a more permanent basis. This new version of the band consists of Grostad, Ellingsen and Pedersen from the original version of the band, with Jomar Johansen (bass) as the only new member. This line-up played on the album Monumental, released in March 2011.
