A Gospel Vocalist who recorded extensively with the famous Roberta Martin. She was featured on television. Jackson recorded twenty sides for Brunswick/Coral between 1949 and 1953, and in 1963 released a solo album on Savoy Records. She also wrote popular gospel songs such as “But This I Pray, Oh Lord, Remember Me” and “Christ My Hope.” Hailing from the Southside of Chicago, Mrytle was known by gospel critics for her “powerfully smooth, mellow sounding voice.
