George Voinescu

Romanian composer, painter, illustrator, cartoonist, designer, actor and librettist. ✰ June 24, 1918, Iași, România † ? France (emigrated in 1968) He studied high school in Vaslui and School of Architecture and the Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Bucharest. 1938 - debuted with drawings and caricatures and was immediately hired as a newspaper editor and cartoonist at ''Universul Literar'' newspaper. Since 1939 he will play different roles as actor at ''Sărindar Theater'', ''The Queen Mary Theatre'' or ''Little Theatre''. After World War II, was hired as art director at the "Constatin Tanase Theater". Persecuted by romanian security agency, he emigrated and established in 1968 in France, where he continued to illustrate books and in 1976 he receive french nationality. He changed surname from George to Georges.
