A native Texan who began his musical life at the age of seven playing classical piano. Currently resides near Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA (previously lived in Seattle, Washington). Operates the record label 7d Media. His interest in music grew through various instruments: electric bass, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, and ultimately the touch guitar. Trey's web sites promote him as "Touch Guitar Freak, King Crimson Alumnus, Multi-Media Storytell, Music Coach". Trey has toured and recorded with Sunday All Over The World, Toni Childs, The Robert Fripp String Quintet, David Sylvian, Vernon Reid, Michael Brook, Eric Johnson (2), John Paul Jones, Toyah, David Hykes of The Harmonic Choir, Security Project, and notably King Crimson. In 1992 Trey was asked to join David Sylvian & Robert Fripp in a collaborative project that grew from a three-piece into a fully-fledged rock band — touring Japan and Europe in both configurations. The band released "The First Day" and a live album, "Damage". During this period Trey also recorded his first solo album "One Thousand Years", released on Discipline Records (which was renamed Discipline Global Mobile / DGM in 1995). Trey was a member of King Crimson from the 'Double Trio' formation in 1994 until the 'Double Duo' concluded touring on November 19th 2003. During the late 1990s his role in the 'Double Duo' formation of King Crimson (Belew, Fripp, Gunn and Mastelotto), helped evolve a new and unique instrument — the Warr Guitar. Built by Mark Warr of Warr Guitars this 'tapped' instrument is an 10-string touch guitar with the range of a piano.
