Blue-eyed soul combo from Gadsden, AL. Formed in mid-1965, originally comprised of singer/percussionist Tony Lumpkin, guitarists Larry Sivley and Paul Smith, and bassist Terry Moore. Later Cliff Blackwood (drums) and Dana Loconto (keyboards) were added. Blackwood left The Bleus in 1968 to enlist in the U.S. Marines, and former Soul Machine drummer Bobby Sproul joined as his replacement. In 1969, Moore left for the Navy, and bassist Philip Howell joined the band. The Bleus broke up in 1971. In 2001, Tony Lumpkin, Larry Sivley, Paul Smith, Terry Moore, Dana Loconto, and Bobby Sproul reunited for some live gigs and recording sessions. A compilation of their singles was issued as The Complete Recordings 1966-1971 in 2004.
