Paul Schmitt (2)

Barbershop baritone vocalist. Born on June 11, 1928 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Paul was one of 17 children and went on to sing with three of his brothers. Paul began singing in the St. Luke’s Church Choir as a kid. Later on, he and three of his brothers would go on to sing barbershop. Paul and his brothers: Joe, Jim, Fran started the Schmitt Brothers quartet in late 1949 and quickly rose to the top. They won the 1951 SPEBSQSA International Championship in Toledo, Ohio. This sparked a 35-year career and over 3,000 performances. Aside from barbershop singing, Paul worked as an insurance salesman for 33 years for the New York Life Insurance Company. Paul died on September 10, 1986 at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer.
