Shuga formed around the songwriting partnership of musician / producer Luis Felber (Jamie T, Turbogeist, Arrows Of Love) and renowned artist / musician / model Emma Chitty (Thrush Metal) who together thrived within the loose collective of London based musicians and artists that recorded and released music as 'Big Meanie Records'. Debut single 'Hey Baby' on Luv Luv Luv records, supported by a strong video directed by Jem Goulding led to extensive touring, including supporting Kate Nash around the UK (Emma provided artwork for Kate's 'Girl Talk' LP and 'Death Proof' EP) during which Shuga performed as a trio with Ben Bones (Jamie T) on drums. A four track 'Darkness EP' followed, written and recorded by Felber & Chitty as a duo and self released packaged together with extensive artworks. The release was supported by further live shows, usually playing as a four piece and at times including former members of Kate Nash's touring band. Tracks, including live favourite 'Stay Wild', recorded in sessions with drummer Scott Asheton (The Stooges) remain unreleased at the time of writing.
