Yva Las Vegass

Venezuelan-born singer-songwriter and musician, based in New York. Born 17 December 1963 in Caracas, Venezuela, to a rich family, she moved to the United States in her teens. At the age of 18, she moved to Seattle, where she started playing music on the streets. In the 80's she formed Dos Mundos, along with Deanna Chapman, and they were later renamed to Tres Mundos, with the addition of Christine Gunn in the cello. Tres Mundos later formed Delusions of Grandeour, a band that fused pop, folk, punk and rock, where they played original tunes. in the early 90's she joined the Florists, a funk rock band, as the vocalist and guitar player. All the while she continued writing and performing venezuelan folkloric songs on her own. In 1994, she met Krist Novoselic, after having been invited by his wife to sing at a surprise birthday party for him. The two of them formed Sweet 75 and they were active as a band until 2000. They disbanded due to personal differences, while making a second record.
