The sound emotionally built and played by Unfashion, a band that started out in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on mid 1998 by four friends who had the same musical goals, can be understood as a blend of almost opposite elements; elements of styles such as hip-hop, alternative music and metal. Combining David Zaidan's vocals and wise lyrics, Fabio's harsh guitars, Daniel Debarry's groovy bass lines and PH's drum playing, Unfashion stepped into the national scene as a hope to aggro music lovers: a hope that there still are bands out there with an immense renewal capacity and heartfelt integrity. After some shows at their hometown, which is also Sepultura's hometown, followed by intense promotion, Unfashion released their first recordings on January 1999: a demo tape containing 6 songs. The demo confirmed expectations: around 800 copies were sold and Unfashion became well known locally and nationally. The band also began to capture attention from people outside Brazil, something that started out after they were band of the month at The Pimp Rock Palace and ruled MP3.com's rapcore charts for a couple of months. Popularity over the net assured a spot on Riffage.com's 1999 compilation Jetset Airport Lounge, an even better opportunity to reach worldwide masses. After excellent demo distribution and sales and many shows nationwide with bands such as Shelter, Lagwagon, Mudhoney, Fun People and Bambix, Unfashion added a second guitar player to their line-up, Guilherme Spitali, and is today one of Brazil's finest acts. Due to a quick ascension, LA-based label Uprising Records, home to bands such as Captive Nation Rising, Racetraitor, Pressure, Burn It Down and Kid Gorgeous, to name a few, signed Unfashion on the beginning of 2001. This definitely took the band to another level since a competent distribution and promotion of their album is guaranteed. Unfashion will release their debut, "Emotional Kids Play Alone", through Uprising Records on November 2001. The album, which was recorded and produced by André Tavares (Dog Eat Dog, Ratos de Porão), contains 9 tracks plus an enhanced portion and will be distributed in the US, Europe, Japan and South America by both Uprising Records and Lumberjack Distribution.
