Daniel Schmidt (b. 1942) is an American composer and builder of American gamelan. Schmidt received his BA in music from Westminister Choir College, Princeton, NJ and his MFA in composition and Javanese Music from California Institute of the Arts. He currently teaches gamelan and instrument building at Mills College, Oakland, CA.
