Bobby Felder

Bobby has been a very well-established figure on Washington, DC’s jazz scene since the late 1950's. He has worked with Charlie Byrd (whom he recorded with on bass), Keter Betts, Roger “Buck” Hill, and Shirley Horn. He is a musician, arranger and music educator and for over 20 years was the Director of Instrumental Music at the University of the District of Columbia, where he played a key role in establishing the Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives. His current projects include Director of Jazz Services at Peoples Congregational Church. At Peoples he leads the groups “Bobby Felder and Friends” and “The Capitol All-Stars Big Band.” His signature group “Bobby Felder and his Blue Notes” has been a fixture in the area for over 50 years.
