Alfred Paul Margis, born in Colombes on October 30, 1874 and died in the 17th arrondissement of Paris on January 27, 19131, was a French pianist and composer. Alfred Margis is the author of many music songs from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century on words, among others, of Eugène Héros, Georges Nanteuil, Paul Briollet, Léo Lelièvre or Maurice de Marsan, as well as waltzes and marches, sometimes under the pseudonyms of Versanne or Almar. His waltz One day you will deceive me was taken up in 1930 in the film Two Hearts, a waltz by Géza von Bolváry, performed by tenor Robert Marino. The blue waltz is, for its part, included in many compilations of music from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century such as Valses d'autrefois (Krier, 1945) or 13 valses de la Belle Époque (DL, 1955 ). There are many recordings of his compositions.
