Early country and western group. Often sang and acted in cowboy movies. The Jimmy Wakely Trio was formerly named The Bell Boys and later, The Three Buckaroos. In late 1940, in California, the Three Buckaroos took the name the Jimmy Wakely Trio, after adding Gene Autry. Dick Reinhart replaced Scotty Harrel as the third member of the trio on the movie "Melody Ranch." The Encyclopedia of Country Music says that the Bond-Wakely-Harrell trio "pulled a clever musical scam" by recording for two companies under different names: the Jimmy Wakely Trio (for Decca Records) and Johnny Bond & the Cimarron Boys (for Columbia Records).
