Joaquín Gasa

Spanish lyricist and libretto writer Joaquín Gasa Mompou (1901-1982), "Joaquim Gasa i Mompou" in catalan. Father of Joaquín Gasa Jr.. Playwright and theater entrepreneur whose date of birth is unknown although the date of his death is known with certainty, that is, 1982. He obtained his first triumphs in Barcelona theaters and triumphed in Madrid from the fifties in front of his "Gran Compañía Internacional de Revistas", which debuted at the Teatro de La Zarzuela on October 7, 1952. (1954), Tutti-Frutti (1954), París-Nueva York (1954), Si Eva fuera coqueta (1954), ¡Ay, Angelina! (1955), A punto de caramelo (1965), etc. He was a collaborator of José Andrés de Prada, Silva Aramburu, Muntañola, García Torregrosa and Jaime Balaguer in the work of librettists. Composers such as Antonio García Cabrera, one of his usual collaborators, Jaime Mestres, Augusto Algueró or José Mª Torrens, among others, put music to his work and were premiered by famous vedettes of the time such as Blanquita Amayo, Maruja Tamayo or Carmen de Lily.
