Flutist, vocal soloist, composer. Born on Oct. 6 1954 in Tărian, Bihor county, Romania. 1973 – graduated from the Music and Fine Arts High School in Oradea. 1973 - 1976 – active in the group from Oradea, Miraj (4), making numerous recordings for TVR. 1978 – graduated in music, majoring in instrumental music (flute), at the "George Enescu" Conservatory in Iasi. 1974 – together with other conservatory colleagues, he founded the group Ethos (7) with which at the National Festival of Student Art in 1976, held in Galati, he won first place and the title of laureate in the country for "original musical conception". The prize for the best flautist is also given to V. Foica. (Disco ghid-rock, Musical Publishing House, Bucharest 1979, page 108 - 109). 1978, 1981 and 1983 – gives recitals with the Ethos (7) group at the Sibiu Jazz Festival. 1978 - 2011 – instrumental artist/principal flutist of the Orchestra Simfonică a Filarmonicii de Stat Oradea. 1979 – appeared at the Electrecord label with the composition "Se bate miezul nopții" with lyrics by M. Eminescu. (Catalog number 45-EDC 10.640 - ''Caut Nume / Se Bate Miezul Nopții''). 1980 – within the Orchestra Simfonică a Filarmonicii de Stat Oradea, he founds the "Vasile Jianu" wind quintet with which he tours in Hungary (1981) and Italy (1985). 1982 – with the "Vasile Jianu" quintet, he records at Radio România București: Vasile Jianu - Rustic entertainment; Vasile Jianu - Suite in classic style; Liviu Comes - Entertainment. 1985 – records at the Electrecord label, with the harpsichordist Marta Joja, the Concerto for Harpsichord, Two Flutes and Orchestra in F major by Johann Sebastian Bach. (catalog number ST-ECE 02832/02833/02834 - ''[r4717050]''). 1985 - 2010 – with the Orchestra Simfonică a Filarmonicii de Stat Oradea, participated in numerous tours undertaken in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Taiwan. 1995 - 2012 – in addition to the activity within the philharmonic, he is also the professor of the flute department of the University of Oradea - Faculty of Music. 2011 - 2019 – artistic director of the Oradea State Philharmonic.
