Ingraham died young at his peak art after being afflicated with tuberculosis for three years. Brother of songwriter Robert George Ingraham, who died at just 28, five years after Herbert. Ingraham charted six times in the top 10 between 1907-1911. His top song hit #2 in 1910, "All That I Ask of You Is Love" by Henry Burr (co-written by Edgar Selden). "When I Dream in the Gloaming of You" by Walter Van Brunt and "Don't Wake Me Up, I'm Dreaming" (co-written by Beth Slater Whitson) sung by Walter Van Brunt both hit #3 (in 1909 and 1911 respectively). "Because I'm Married Now" by Billy Murray hit #4 in 1907 with Ingraham's first top song.
