(February 11th, 1933 - April 2nd, 1982) Lola Tsakiri was a Greek singer, born in Thessaloniki. Her father was an army general and she worked as a secretary in the American Embassy in Athens. In 1959 she began singing and because of her, the song "San sfirixis tris fores" (The white rose of Athens) was well known. In 1963 at the Thessaloniki Song Festival she won the 4th prize, with the song "Pou pate kyrie", by Nantia Konstantopoulou and Takis Morakis, with Konstantopoulou as a duo. She sang many hits of the 1960s and collaborated with composers such as Manolis Chiotisand and Takis Morakis. Some of her successes are: "Athina", "You will not see such joy", "Ferte mou ena mantolino" and others. In 1966, at the Beirut festival, she won the first prize with Plessas' song "This is where the sky ends". She toured Europe (including Italy, France, Spain and Germany) in the 1960s. She appeared in the 1970s in theater and television. Shortly before her death, she sang at the Daphne Wine Festival in the summer of 1981. She died alone at Sotiria Hospital and was buried in DG Cemetery on April 2, 1982. Her funeral was held with a fundraiser undertaken by the actors Rena Vlachopoulou, Eleni Prokopiou.
