The Claire Poole Singers became a household name during the 1960's & 70'2 throughout Australia due to their many television appearances. They have also been responsible for backing many well-known recording artists and are the voices behind numerous commercials. Claire Poole was born in Sydney, and studied classical piano and singing at the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music. In 1959 she formed the first resident group of singers for Australian television at Channel Seven, and was Seven's choral director until 1966. She then moved to Channel Ten for the "Barry Crocker Show" and "Say it with Music". Claire does all the vocal arrangements for the group. The other members (1973): Annette Terrill was born in Sydney, and studied classical piano and singing. She Joined the "Revue 20", appearing in Channel Seven's "Revue '61". Annette was well known to Brisbane audiences for her part in a daily television musical. Betty Lys was born in India of English parents. She became a member of Melbourne's Channel Nine Singers but left to join the Claire Poole Singers in 1967. In 1969 Betty travelled to England, and joined a vocal group that toured Canada and the United States. Joe Andre comes from a musical family and was born in Melbourne. Joe plays saxophone and clarinet; he joined the Claire Poole Singers in 1969 from Channel Nine's "Sound of Music" Sally Rogan
