Narren

Swedish theater group formed in 1965 and became one of the first independent theater groups in Stockholm. The group initially worked in the former Arena Theater at Gröna Lund. It then had its base in Skärholmen and the last year at the cinema Reform in the south of Stockholm. From time to time, extensive touring activities were conducted, including to Cuba. The group changed its name for a time to "Narrens Verkstad" in 1967. Inspired by the New York group La Mama's guest performance in Stockholm the same year, they wanted to emphasize the unique acting training. The central figure of the fool was the director Hans Hellberg throughout his career. After beginning with American avant-garde plays, the repertoire from 1969 became increasingly revolutionary. Narren ceased in 1981. The first year the group consisted of Hans Hellberg, Bibi Nordin, Lottie Ejebrant and Leif Sundberg.
