American Vocalist Songwriter/Producer Joined Sly & The Family Stone in 1975. Born Sacramento, California 1954. Original member of Brides Of Funkenstein with Lynn Mabry and joined Parliament-Funkadelic in 1977. In 1978, with Lynn, released the successful [m19717] album. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was Certified Gold. In 1979, with Sheila Horne and Jeanette McGruder, released the follow-up, [m19722], voted by Rolling Stone in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. The Brides were the only group in the P-Funk organization to receive a Rhythm and Blues Award in 1981 for their work. Only member of Brides on both albums. Left P-Funk in 1981. Also collaborated with Ice Cube, Eurythmics, Coolio and Roy Ayers, on the Boyz in the Hood movie soundtrack. Recorded and toured with The Gap Band. Released her solo project All My Funky Friends in 2000, and her autobiographical book Shadows On The Wall - Memoirs of a Funk Queen in 2023 as numbered and signed edition with poster.
