The "Negoleiros do Ritmo", founded in 1956, reached their zenith with the EPs "Aí Compadre eN´Gomas - 1964," Minha Cidade é Linda - 1968 ", all recorded at Estúdio Alvorada in Vila Nova de Gaia, in Portugal. In 1968, the band recorded songs in Angola for the first time, at Estúdio Etiquette Bonzão, other great successes of the time like "Lemba", "Riquita" in 1972, and in 1973, "Casaco de Fardo e Lamento". From the revolutionary phase that led the country to independence in 1975, band members were among others Dionísio Rocha, Zé Fininho, Joãozinho Morgado, Almirindo Cruz, Carlitos Vieira Dias, Mário Fernandes and Damião de Jesus (deceased). Many of the members went on individual projects. In 2005 the returned to the studio to compile and record their new album. In 1974/75, Dionísio Rocha recorded the songs "Desculpa ou Vou Duvidar", "Pouco a Pouco", "Unidade Nacional" e "Senhor dos PaísesAfricanos", which are considered part of the group's output. From 1982 to 1983, Dionísio Rocha returns to the studio to record "Eu Quero o Mar e Pemba Laka", in 1984/85 "Radiografia da Cidade", as well as "Leãozinhos Douros" and the anthem for Petro Atlético de Luanda. Joãozinho Morgado, another member of the group, stands out, however, in several musical groups that he joined, with emphasis on "Os Merengues", "Semba Tropical", as well as other participations such as "Free Lancer". The album was released on January 28, 2006, titled "Negoleiros sei que tu queres", containing 12 songs, three of which are unpublished. For the realization of this project, Dionísio Rocha, Zeca Massano, Dulce Trindade, Zé Fininho, Mário Fernandes and Almirindo Cruz worked hard to restore the songs. The album that was produced at IN OUT - Estúdio, in Lisbon, by musician and producer Caló Barbosa, from the Guinean band Tabanka Jazz, also one of the special guests, on the keys, includes rhythms such as semba, bolero, kilapanga and kazukuta. In the production process, Negoleiros do Ritmo also had the participation of musicians such as Nanuto (Angola), Eneida Marta (Guinea Bissau), as well as Rui Gonçalves, Jorge Reis and Iones Pimentel (all Portuguese). The disc also features themes by Ana Maria Mascarenhas and was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, TAAG, BPC, Luís Montez Company, in addition to the support of Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), TVC, LAC and Carlos Ferreira (Cassé).
