Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

(* July 1, 1742 in Ober-Ramstadt near Darmstadt; † February 24, 1799 in Göttingen) was a physicist, naturalist, mathematician, writer and the first german professor of experimental physics in the age of enlightenment. Lichtenberg is considered the founder of the german-speaking aphorism.
