Italian-American composer, painter, and illustrator (b. ca. 1873 in Naples, Italy - after 1934) Melina emigrated to the United States in 1907, together with his wife, singer Teresa De Matienzo, and their daughter. Melina wrote the lyrics numerous songs that were set to music by well-known Italian-American composers such as Vincenzo De Crescenzo (2)], e.g. "Faciteme Turnà" (1912) and "'O Ritratto" (The Portrait, 1920). His most famous song was "Core Furastiero" (Foreign Heart, 1923), a duet with music by E. A. Mario. As a visual artist, he created the illustrations for a satiric novel about the Italian-American experience, "Il Presidente Scoppetta" by Pasquale Seneca (1927).
