Swedish singer and lyricist, born December 30, 1971 in Malmö. She grew up in the area around Kalmar and Färjestaden on Öland. After high school studies in music majoring in opera at the Cathedral School in Växjö, she went to Kulturama's musical education and the Music Conservatory in Geneva, as well as further opera training at the Gothenburg Opera. Since 2005, she has been a singer in the new version of the dance band Candela, which also participated in SVT's Dansbandskampen 2009. She has also collaborated a lot with the Melodifestival-winning songwriter Marcos Ubeda and wrote texts for a number of his melodies. In April 2011, their mini-album Maria Knutsson & BHQ with jazz music in collaboration with the Billy Hail Quartet was released. Since 2014 she is an active singer in the Good Times Band, with whom she has recorded two albums Can anyone explain? and Passion with as well as the music video "A light green summer hat". Maria Knutsson is the narrating and singing main character in several focused music programs, e.g. on Billie Holiday, music and jazz programs, etc. In 1995, Maria Knutsson was named the winner of the Miss Öland beauty contest. In 2011, she and her family appeared in TV 4's reality series Mamma byter bo.
