Marc Chalosse

Marc Chalosse is a french improviser and composer born in 1963 in Paris. After studying classical piano and Ondes Martenot at the Lyon Conservatory, he studied Jazz at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester (USA) and in New York city with Barry Harris and Andy Laverne. He moved to Paris in 1989 and accompanies many Jazz musicians (Robin Eubanks, Lonnie Plexico, Craig Harris, Stafford James, Buddy Colette, Steve Argüelles, Noël Akchoté, Deedee Bridgewater, Ricardo Del Fra, François Théberge...). In 1993, he decided to devote himself to electronic music, forming in 1995 the Toy Sun group with John Silverman and DJ Nem. Concerts in Europe and Japan and recording of an EP (Comet Records). In 2001 he issued the album Artaud Remix, based on “Pour en finir avec le jugement de dieu” by Antonin Artaud (label Signature / Radio France). Under the name of Lipitone, he directed an album for Frederic Galliano’s Frikyiwa label that is a mix of soundscapes, traditional mandingue songs and electronic music (2002). Chalosse did a live" house music" version of this project (concerts in Europe, Japan and Mexico). Between 2000 and 2004, he collaborated with Laurent Garnier ("Unreasonable Behaviour” tour) and Frédéric Galliano and the African Divas (world tour and recording). Member of the collective “Around", with Benoit Delbecq, Gilles Coronado, Eric Verhnes (video) and Serge Adam (CD and concerts in Europe and Mexico). He moves to Auvergne in 2004, where he leads a composer activity for movies, dance and theater. In 2006 he produced a field recording CD called PARIS : NY : TOKYO : BERCK-PLAGE, created in concert in 2006 at the Présences Electroniques Festival of Radio France ( INA / GRM). Winner of the composition price Luc Ferrari 2007 (La Muse en Circuit / Radio France) for” Histoire de Jeanne”. Pianist of The Delano Orchestra's"The Escape" project (concert at the Theâtre de la ville in Paris and CD). His latest project is entitled "Off Maldoror” (with the french performer Xtatik). He leads the APEJS (school of music) in Chambéry since April 2014.
