Johann Nowotny

Austrian composer (born May 21, 1852 in Dusnik, died September 25, 1896 in Dobschan) Trained in Prague, Nowotny served for 13 years as a military band director in the Imperial Russian army. In 1886 he returned to Austria to head the regimental band of the Infantry Regiment Nr. 92 (k.u.k. Infanterie-Regiment Freiherr von König Nr. 92) in Theresienstadt (Terezín). There he wrote his most popular piece, the march „Aller Ehren ist Österreich voll“ op. 28 (1886), which he dedicated to the officer corps of his new regiment. It soon became known as that regiment's special march.
