John Whelan (2)

English Saxophone and woodwind player. For many years Whelan was a leading player with most of the big name bands including BBC Northern Dance Orchestra, Bob Sharples, Geraldo (7), Ted Heath, Robert Farnon, Bert Kaempfert, Ronnie Hazelhurst, Michel Legrand, Laurie Johnson's London Big Band and the legendary Jack Parnell ATV band. A very busy studio player , including being the sound of ‘Zoot’ from the Muppet Shows on TV, featured on the famous last note and also the solo alto for the ‘Swedish Chef.’ John was also the featured soloist on all of the ‘Guest Spot’ play along recordings on Saxophone, Flute and Clarinet for Music Sales. Now he enjoys the challenge of finding wonderful instruments for other players and also selling on their behalf.
