This group was originally Bobby Vee's backing group known as the Shadows, changing their name when the Shadows from England began get more notice. Vee's band consisted of his brother, Bill Velline (Sept 3, 1938; Fargo, N Dakota - Feb 1, 1997; Fargo), Ken Harvey, Dick Dunkirk & Bob Korum (b: 1940; Fargo). Vee produced an album's worth of material on them at the Cuca studio in Sauk City, Wisc. Dick Dunkirk also had a 45 released on both Bangar & Soma & Vee's own 1st release (on both Soma & Liberty) used those original Shadows. Vee's later recordings that used the Strangers name was probably a studio group in Los Angeles. Uncredited Leon Russell played organ on "Toy Soldier".
