Swedish pop band from Uppsala that won some national success in the mid-1960s. Originally the band was called The Limelight Men, which was formed in 1962. Members of the band were Christer Olov Johansson solo guitar, Lars Jardemyr guitar, Egon Shad bass, Per-Johan Petersson drums and Anders Eklund vocals. In 1963 Lars Jardemyr was replaced by Leif Stacksteg (Jansson) who came to play solo guitar and Christer Olov Johansson guitar. At the same time, the band changed their name to The Nashmen. With the above members, The Nashmen recorded two single discs in 1964. In 1965, The Nashmen, with the song Carol, came up on Ten in the top list. In the spring of 1965, when the band played at the club Casaleon in Berlin, Anders Eklund was replaced by Conny Eriksson. In the summer of 1965 the band was re-formed. The members are Christer Andersson solo guitar, Eino Haapala guitar, Torkel Thyrell bass, Lennart Lind drums and Leif Stacksteg (Jansson) vocals. The band recorded a single, Bom Bom / Tenderly and Closely. After further conversion Leif Stacksteg (Jansson) plays solo guitar with band members Olle Ullström song, Björn Eriksson organ, Willy Dremanitz drums and Rolf Almstedt bass. 1967 The Nashmen tops the Top Ten list You´re So Good To Me. Leif Stacksteg (Jansson) leaves The Nashmen in 1968. Olle Ullström forms another version of The Nashmen, the last in the line. Gunnar Kullenberg guitar, Torkel Thyrell bass and Christer Barkman (Jarlstrand) drums. After quarreling over the right to the name The Nashmen, the band renamed The Zeus in 1969 (see Zeus (52)).
