Charles was the keyboardist, lead singer and songwriter in "Alexander's Timeless Bloozband" based in Santa Barbara. With the Bloozband, Charles opened for the Doors and Janis Joplin, Paul Butterfield and others. The band signed with Uni Records - a division of MCA - in the late 60's. Charles did a second solo album for Uni " A Legend in His Own Mind". Tom Scott and other great players were on it. Neil Diamond and Bill Cosby were Uni artisis at the time. The solo album got some airplay and things looked promising until Uni’s promotional focus was turned to their new discovery - Elton John. Next came a stint in another Uni act -”Medicine Ball” led by Dewey Martin, the drummer with the Buffalo Springfield. Steven Stills rehearsed with but never performed with the band, Soon after that Charles played with and wrote tunes for “Geronimo Black” featuring ex- Mothers of Invention members Jimmy Carl Black and Bunk Gardner . Charles did more than a dozen dance singles for JDC records as producer, writer and occasionally artist . Since the 90's Charles been writing, producing, playing and occassionally singing on songs for network TV. The tunes have been on CBS NBC ABC FOX Showtime, Lifetime etc. and have been played around the world. Charles has performed with blues greats Etta James, T Bone Walker Sr. and Magic Sam. Live engagements have included the Monterrey Blues Festival and performances in Switzerland and Germany A new album "Rhythm Words and Melodies " is available on Itunes Amazon and CD Baby.
