Smasher is a DJ/ Producer/ Artist from Hackney East London, who started building a name for himself as a Dj via Pirate radio at only 13 years old. Showing so much talent at such a young age, his passion for music has taken him on a journey spanning well over a decade and working with some of the finest talent to emerge from the British Urban music scene. As a teenager he joined the group ‘Knightz Of The Round Table’ as the DJ, playing weekly on pirate radio station ‘Flava Fm’. Under the wing of the legendary ‘Heartless Crew’, the group followed them around the club scene supporting on their HLC events laying the foundations for Smasher to hone his skills. As a DJ in the prime pirate radio era, Smasher held down shows on ‘Deja vu 92.3’ for a number of years, then moved to Rinse Fm in 2009 where he spent a further 3 years. In 2007, with friend and fellow producer Lewi White, he set up a recording studio in the now infamous Cable Street Studios. This become a hub for the very best up and coming urban talent in the UK and served as the perfect platform for Smasher to hone his engineering and mixing skills whilst also developing as an artist in his own right. Grime record ‘Back In The Day’ gained attention from godfather of the scene ‘Wiley” and also a call from “Tim Westwood” inviting him to showcase his skills on BBC Radio 1. This is also the period in which he began working with Aaron Greenwood, a keyboard playing singer/composer, with whom he would later start a label. 2012 “Set the record straight e.p” was the pairs first collaboration and featured over 20 uk artist’s: Giggs (Landlord), Wiley, Wretch 32, Maverick sabre, Ghetts (Freedom of speech), Heartless crew, Devlin, Chip, j2k, Skibadee, Shabba, P.money, Klashnekoff, AJ Tracey, Lady Leshurr,, Carl mcintosh (Loose ends), Peter Andre, Jake gosling (Ed Sheeran) and many more. 2019 saw the birth of label ‘On Top Records’ and the subsequent release of future anthem ‘Rolling’, which quickly picked up support from Garage heavyweights DJ EZ, Conducta, Smokey Bubbling B, Scott Garcia, Redhot and Cartier. Many have cited this as a stand out record to emerge from the UK Garage scene. This was followed by “Drop The Funk Drop The Bass”, “Round And Round”, the DJ focused A/B side ‘Believe In’, ‘Got All Night’ and latest single ‘Keep It Locked’. With the foundations laid, Smasher now presents us with his complete solo project “Locked In Locked On”, an album scattered with the 2 step/garage sounds he fell in love with as a budding DJ in his teens and adding a futuristic twist scattered with melody, flows and vibrant production.
