His top singing song came in 1959 with "Seven Little Girls (Sittin' in the Back Seat)"--it landed at #9 in the U.S. and #25 in the U.K. On the song writing side, his top charted song was "When" (co-written by Jack Reardon) by The Kalin Twins in 1958--it hit #1 on the U.S. R&B chart, #1 in the U.K. overall, #13 on the U.S. country chart, and #5 overall in the U.S. He also had a second #1 with " Roses Are Red (My Love)" by Bobby Vinton in 1962 (co-written by Al Byron)--it hit #1 in the U.S. overall, #1 on the adult contemporary, #5 on the R&B, and #15 in the U.K.
