British songwriter, orchestrator, and trumpet player, most known for his TV work and library music. After taking a correspondence course, and later, evening classes with George Evans (London College of Music), he began writing commercials for Keith Prowse Music, whilst also playing in big bands in the evenings; which included working for Denny Boyce. After a stint at the BBC, he began writing as a freelancer for the likes of Benny Hill, and Tommy Cooper, before starting to write for Syd Dale. As well as scoring films on his own, Whibley also worked on several others with his friend Ron Goodwin. Born: 27th February 1922, in Lambeth, London, England. Died: 1984, in S.E. Surrey, England. [aged 62]
