"León Zafir" was a Colombian poet. He was born in the municipality of Anorí, Antioquia, Colombia, in 1900. His date of birth is not precise. He passed away in Medellín on July 9, 1964. Along with Tartarín Moreira and Caratejo Vélez, two other Antioquian poets, León Zafir left a poetic and musical legacy in his work that became part of the Antioquian and national cultural tradition. He wrote the books "Aquí Voy" (1935), "Luna sobre el monte" (1939) and "Nosotros somos así" (1963). Some of his poems were set to music by composers such as Carlos Vieco, Camilo García and Eladio Espinosa; This made him known in the Colombian Music Industry of the 1950s, since these songs ("Cultivando rosas", "Hacia el calvario", "Morenita, la dulzura", "Tierra buena", "Primavera en Medellín", and "Más morena") were performed by prominent Latin American singers, such as Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, and Colombians, such as El Dueto de Antaño, Sarita Herrera and Víctor Hugo Ayala, among others.
