Martin Marek

Martin Marek (1956 - 2014) was a violoncellist of Czech Radio Orchestra where he played for more than a decade. He studied composition at HAMU by Marek Kopelent. Lately, in advanced age he somewhat unreasonably put everything on one card - the track of the composer of classical music. However, before he noticed that he could not feed himself by composing concert classical music, he found himself broke. Then his situation only worsened and led to the bitter end of total poverty and homelessness. It is remarkable that even in that bleak state he has formed in the last few years of his life, he continued to compose until the last moment and his compositions show stable quality. He left behind several dozen chamber opuses, of which a small selection is also provided by the CD "Loudium" released in 2016 by his friends.
