Gittan Jönsson

Swedish artist, born 9 August 1948 in Helsingborg. She studied at the advertising line at Konstfack 1967–1972. In her works, she portrays complex societal power structures and social relations. One of her most notable paintings is "Diskkasterskan" from 1978. She has also composed poems by Sonja Åkesson. She appeared on the classic feminist musical album [m434323] (1971), the cover of which she also did. Other album covers she has made are Kalla tårar (Torkel Rasmusson), Kvinnokulturfestivalen and Praise drumming (Bitter Funeral Beer Band). She had a retrospective exhibition at Marabouparken's art gallery in Sundbyberg in 2016, where she showed painting, drawing, porcelain and film from six decades. Gittan Jönsson is represented at Moderna Museet, Nationalmuseum, Röhsska museet in Gothenburg, Göteborgs konstmuseum, Kristianstads konstmuseum, Arbetets museum Norrköping, Skissernas museum in Lund, Borås konstmuseum, Helsingborg Municipality, Eskilstuna Municipality, Linköping Municipality, Region Skåne and the Swedish Arts Council. She is the mother of actor Simon J. Berger.
