Vernon Young

Vernon (born Jan. 13, 1949, in Jacksonville, Texas, died Feb. 17, 2005, in Georgetown, Grand Cayman Island, Caribbean) started singing at the age of three. People would give him quarters to hear him sing. It was at this age that he realised that singing would be his life's career. At the age of 13, he accepted the Lord and joined the church. He was educated in the public schools of Houston, where he was raised. He joined the glee club at Bruce Elementary School and went on to receive many musical awards during his school years. He attended Texas Southern University, where he majored in music. He previously worked with the Houston Outlaws, Archie Bell & The Drells, and Vernon Young and the Touchtones of Columbia. Vernon joined The Original Drifters in the early 1990's, where he performed as one of the leading vocalists.
