Pervis Spann

Pervis (born Aug. 16, 1932 in Itta Bena, MS, died March 14th, 2022 in Chicago at his South Side home from complications of Alzheimer’s disease) US American radio DJ, broadcaster and music promoter. Has been influential in the development of blues music in Chicago. He also co-owned several clubs, including The Burning Spear. Hired by Chess Records co-founder Leonard Chess at WVON-AM, his career spanned over 60 years. He was one of the ‘Good Guys’ — a group of DJs that also included Herb Kent.
