Folk musician, and festival, tour and concert director, producer, and organizer, mainly working in the fields of folklife, cultural and historic preservation, and community action. He is a a founding member of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington (1964). Wallace has been involved in organizing various folk festivals, including National Folk Festival by National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA), Northwest Folklife Festival, The Smithsonian Festival of American Folklife, and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (1976-80). He also produced a tour of Franco-American music and dance to French Canadian communities in northern New England (1977-79), and a tour of blues musician Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. As a musician, he has worked with Jonathan Eberhart and Mike Rivers in the Ringshouters, and with Pete Seeger as a member of the original crew of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. He was also a solo artist. He has recorded with Jonathan Eberhart, Helen Bonchek Schneyer, Louis Killen and Pete Seeger, among others, and has appeared on NPR and public television.
