Alexis Buffum

Austin, Texas professional performance violinist and Suzuki method teacher. (she also plays a mean fiddle) She has taught and performed in Austin since 2004. She attended Florida State University and the University of Texas at Austin to pursue performance and pedagogy degrees. She grew up as a Classical player, but has found her niche as a alternative styles performer. While she loves to play Classical music, she can be found playing Irish, rock, Indie, and Jazz all over Austin. She spends a lot of time in recording studios working on albums and films. Her most recent films include “Bernie” with Jack Black and “Mud” with Matthew McConaughey. Alexis has performed Classically with the Round Rock Symphony (she sits principal second violin), Austin Chamber Music Center, Austin Lyric Opera, and Austin Ballet. She has performed with Willie Nelson, Bobby McFerrin, Graham Reynolds, Doc Severinson, Okkervil River, the Transiberian Orchestra, and DJ Spooky.
