Harry Kanters

Originally a multi-instrumentalist, Harry Kanters has been specializing himself into the various piano Jazz styles. His repertoire ranges from Ragtime and Harlem-stride to Swing and early BeBop. Therefore he is in great demand as soloist with New Orleans, Swing and Mainstream bands. In the last few years he also became an arranger at many CD-recordings. Although very active as a freelancer, Harry has been part of famous bands like Joep Peeters’ ‘JoJo Swingband’ (19 years), Frank Roberscheutens’ ‘Swingcats’, ‘Three-O’ Joop Hendriks’ and “Bernard Berkhout Swingmates”.. He has also been leader of ‘Reeds & Rhythm’ and of the trio ‘De KaKa’s’, where he sings Dutch lyrics with his brother Peter. Furthermore he organizes special projects every now and then, like “Basie, Bean & Fats Project” and the “Tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio”. Harry has played with many Jazz-greats among which Lillian Boutte, Tom Baker, Dan Barrett, Thomas L'Etienne, George Probert, Anti Sarpila, Bert Boeren, Brooks Tegler, Harry Allen, Warren Vache, Eddie Metz, Frits Landesbergen, Leroy Jones, Enrico Tomasso, Roy Williams, Bob Barnard. He is often invited for national and international jazz festivals, e.g. Ascona (CH) and Kobe (Japan) and has performed from Benelux to Japan, from California to Tasmania. Harry can be heard on dozens of albums and CD’s. In the last few years he often had an initiating role.
