Larry Conger

American cornet, trumpet, bandleader and singer. Born: July 30, 1926 in Marysville, Califonria. Died July 1, 2021 in South Carolina (age of 94). Played a variety of instruments including piano, violin and saxophone before focusing on the trumpet. He attended Cornell Univerisity and graduated from Ithaca College in 1953. Next he performed with Moriss Taylor and the Sierra Melody Gang before becoming a music teacher. In 1957 he joined the band of Turk Murphy. Thereafter he worked in industrial real estate, ulimately in South Carolina, where he played violin in the Greenville Symphony (1958-60). He led the Two Rivers band from 1965-70 and remained active in the traditional music scene of the midlands.
