Oleg Smirnov is a Los Angeles-based music producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys), whose professional career started over a decade ago in Russia, when he was commissioned to compose and produce for Russian premiere multi-genre instrumental collective EXIT project. Blending classical music with jazz, world music with electronic textures, the band quickly received critical acclaim for introducing its own innovative stylistic approach labeled "Art-fusion". Oleg produced several albums for the band, and the EXIT project CDs were released on Russian major record labels CD Land and Soyuz Records. A multi-instrumentalist and descendent of the Russian music tradition, Oleg’s work combines stylistic versatility with the deep insight, sensitivity, and attention to the detail. His music was featured in TV and theatre productions, media campaigns by Greenpeace and WWF, was reviewed in major music media and is available in major digital stores (iTunes, Google Play, Spotify). Oleg's music was performed and recorded by remarkable performing artists like Sergey Letov, Nikolai Rubanov (Auktyon), Oleg Mariakhin, Maria Logofet, Gregory Sandomirsky, Vladimir Glushko and others. In 2009 Oleg contributed to the album "Orpheus in Exhile" by the British new wave icon Mark Almond, while his 2012 collaboration with jazz and world music artist Kirill Parenchuk led to a multimedia project Son Cherished Most embracing music, visual arts, philosophy, and documentary film. Oleg also participated in American composer Rhys Chatham project, as well as arranged work by multiple award-winning American composer and avant-guard icon John Zorn. As a film composer worked on music for several motion pictures (Son Cherished Most, Parents' Saturday, etc.). Oleg's works have featured in TV shows and the new media video content. Oleg Smirnov's latest album - Amrita - a collaboration with traditional Indian kirtan singer Kamini Natarajan was released in 2020 and was submitted for nomination for Grammy Awards in the Best New Age Album category. In addition to the degree with honors from Boston's Berklee College of Music, where he focused on music composition, arranging, and production, Oleg’s background highlights a Master of Arts in Psychology.
