The “Alpinia Salzburg” at the beginning of today's Salzburg folk culture. In the first months of 1891 several members of the "Alpen und Edelweiß-Club" (founded in 1881), which already existed at that time and the “Untersberg Club” from Hellbrunn decided to have one Founding of the “Tourist Social Club ALPINIA”. The ALPINIA was thus the first traditional costume association in the then still existing Austrian monarchy (1867-1918). According to the founding statutes that still exist today, ALPINIA was founded on May 6, 1891 and approved on June 22, 1891 by decree of the kuk provincial government of Salzburg under registration number 5520. The signatories of the articles of association are Toni Blum as the 1st board member, Leopold Brandauer, Hans Eberhartinger, Josef Langer, Josef Bertran, Heinrich Baltzer and Mathäus Künstelberger. On August 5, 1891, the founding meeting took place in the “Zipflwirt” inn in Nonntal. Thus, only one year after the founding of Gauverband I, “ALPINIA” was born, which has been a member of it in uninterrupted fashion since then (126 years) Gauverband is.
