Brian Brill, pianist and two-time Emmy Award winning composer, has written original music and film scores for PBS Television, CBS Sports, and The Discovery Channel. Recently, he scored the documentary “The Small Matter of Big Science” and thirty “Our Gang” silent films for Turner Classic Movies. Additionally, he has provided compositions/arrangements for the Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Kalamazoo Symphonies as well as college and high school bands and orchestras. He continues to produce music for national/regional radio and TV ads. Brill received his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University. He was one of the founding members of Fast Tracks, a touring group that played clubs and concert halls, opening for many nationally known jazz musicians, including Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Mann, Jeff Lorber, and John Scofield. In addition, he has arranged, played on, or produced a number of award-winning recordings for regional musicians, including David Barrett, Luis Resto, Gemini, the Chenille Sisters, Ariel and Zoey, and Matt Giraud, an American Idol finalist. Brill has produced several of his own recordings. His most recent, "The Wesley Project," features instrumental arrangements of Wesley hymns scored for piano, strings, and handbells. Additional recordings include his “Red Arrow Highway”, a smooth jazz project of original compositions with guitarist Robert Tye and “Sunday Morning,” which features his own compositions as well as jazz and popular standards.
